Hong Kong Island is best described as a city with in a city; it is the most densely populated part of Hong Kong. The centre of Hong Kong Island can also be called the political, historical and economic heart of Hong Kong. The northern coast of the island forms the southern shore of the Victoria Harbor, which is largely responsible for the economic development of Hong Kong due to its deep waters favored by large trade ships.
The city itself is centered on Victoria Harbor. The areas surrounding the main business district is well known for restaurants and clubs. Causeway Bay, a large scale shopping mall is also on Hong Kong Island. Towering above everything else is the Peak which is Hong Kong’s premier scenic spot and also its prime residential area which has plenty of public greens for those who want to unwind in the outdoors.
Hong Kong Island, the busy financial and commercial centre with its high skyscrapers, has a lot to offer: shops, bars, headquarters from companies and, for those who feel like it, a little bit of culture mostly a few museums and some monuments. However a not to be missed location is Victoria Peak where you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the surroundings. One of the nicest beaches in Hong Kong is definitely Repulse Bay. The best way to see all of this on Hong Kong Island is definitely by tram as it offers quick transportation with some novelty.
There are a number of Hong Kong Island Hotels, which is to be expected as it is a focal point for tourists who visit Hong Kong.
