Fiji restaurants usually serve continental cuisine as many chefs that work in these places come from Australia and New Zealand. Resorts and hotels generally have themed menu focusing on certain cuisine on a certain night.
There are a number of restaurants in island resorts, hotels, and coffee shops that serve Japanese, Chinese, and Indian cuisines. Most restaurants offer steaks and seafood while there are also those that serve a wide array of Fijian food.
Chefs The Restaurant
The specialty of the house include the pakapaka, charcoal-grilled king prawns, rack of lamb, and grilled beef tenderloin. Established by chef Eugene Gomes, the place is considered as one of Fiji’s leading restaurants because of its attentive service and well presented-cuisine. The food may vary each season except for the rack of lamb and grilled beef tenderloin, which are a hit to Australian and New Zealand customers. It also serves breakfast while lunch offers fish and chips, burgers, and salads.
Bullacino
Opened in 2007, it is known for its rich coffee and freshly baked pastries. Its lunch menu includes roasted chicken and mesclun greens salad. Customers are impressed with its vegetarian ratatouille, yellowfin tuna, and grilled swordfish. The place is air-conditioned and has ceiling fans giving customers comfort while overlooking the Nadi River.
Coconut Grove Restaurant
This oceanfront restaurant allows guests to dine in their own private verandah or by the beach on candlelight. The place is set on a spot overlooking the ocean where in some nights people come to play their ukuleles and perform some local songs. People come and try their fish and seafood, organic vegetables, and homemade pastas. It also serves curries and Fijian food and it is a great place to try New Zealand’s finest beef.
Indigo
Started by chef Eugene Gomes, this restaurant offers outdoor dining experience. It serves authentic Indian menu including mangrove crab masala, Goan pork curry, and buttered chicken. It also features Asian dishes such as Thai crab and Rendang curry as well as a list of vegetarian dishes.
Nadina Authentic Fijian Restaurant
Opened in late 2007, this place is set in a small wooden cottage and serves traditional cuisine such as kokoda and kovu walu. It serves miti, crunchy shoots from a wood fern, which tastes good when served with coconut milk. A nice place to try a few Fijian dishes, where they are spiced to accommodate varied tastes and it is also a good dining spot to get some good curry.
Fiji restaurants are great places to take a break, recharge, and try the country’s exotic food after a long day shopping and exploring the islands.
