Ah, the adventure of travel – the more places you visit, the more places you want to go. For the seasoned traveler, Europe is probably one of the first excursions you took. Or perhaps Hawaii, or the Caribbean. So having done the typical places, maybe now you’re looking to try somewhere different, some place exotic. Or maybe you want to do a budget trip and see the sights without spending a lot. Whatever your plans, we have put together a list of some of the hot vacation spots for 2006. Some are perennial favorites, others are trendy, and others are a little unique. But they all hold a great deal of magic for the experienced traveler. So, pick a spot, make some plans and take a trip! You have lots of memories just waiting to be made!
Costa Rica
Central America, specifically Costa Rica, is quickly becoming a favorite. People want a Hawaii alternative, and they want to go somewhere they have never been. Costa Rica fills this need. It’s beautiful, exotic, and friendly. Believe it or not, over a million tourists flock to the beaches of this environmental wonder every year. Any place that boats 6% of the worlds biodiversity in such a small land area has got to be impressive. And it is. Lush jungles are everywhere, teaming with monkeys, crocodiles, lizards, and a wide variety of exotic birds, and butterflies. It’s also politically and socially stable, making it very safe.
Southern Caribbean
Another great spot for 2006, and most every other year is the Southern area of the majestic Caribbean. Some would call it the “real” Caribbean, places like Aruba, St. Lucia, Barbados, and St. Kitts. Plus, you’ll be treated well: the native people of these islands are some of the friendliest in the world. And although there are mega resorts on many of the islands in the southern Caribbean, there are still plenty of open and tranquil areas where you can just kick back, relax and enjoy some quality time. Making the area even more interesting is the strong colonial influence that is felt in almost every area, whether it be French, Dutch, or English heritage.
Argentina
Looking for a fascinating place that is easy on the wallet? It’s all about Argentina. Their economic issues aside, this is the place of passionate people, beautiful natural wonders, and urban sophistication. And if you like soccer, well then, all the better! The major city, Buenos Aires has a European flavor to it and has plenty of great restaurants, and majestic grandeur. But at the same time, it also has a quaint charm with cobbled streets, gorgeous architecture and evocative art.
Las Vegas
That’s right…Vegas baby. One of the all time favorites for travelers from all over the world. And why you ask? Maybe because there’s nothing quite like it anywhere else on earth. Plus, it was the first major gambling hot spot, legitimizing the age-old pastime, which seems to be growing in popularity with each passing year. Gone is the family friendly approach from five or six years ago – this town is clearly back to its original “adult playground” reputation. What’s that? Looking for a new resort? How about the Wynn Las Vegas, another over the top, beautiful place to spend a few days and nights. The shows of course are better than ever, with Barry Manilows nightly soirée and Elton John’s “Red Piano” show. If you haven’t been to Vegas in a few years, or if you’ve never been before, make plans to go this year. But don’t expect it to be quiet or empty. In Vegas, it’s all about the action!
Croatia
Although the turbulent war that occurred ten years ago affected its reputation, Croatia is now back – better than ever, as one of the best destinations of 2006 and one of the most beautiful spots on earth. Clearly, this gorgeous stretch of the Adriatic coast does not disappoint with thousands of visitors flocking to its resorts every year now. Plus, it has over a thousand islands, islets and reefs. If you’re looking for great food and lots of history, then you can have it here -Croatia has exquisite culinary taste and an interesting past. In fact, the capital of Dubrovnik has city walls that were built between the 13th and 16th centuries, and are still intact today. At 82 feet high, it’s something to see.
Where are You Going to Go?
So, there you have it, the best spots to visit this year! Whether you travel to unwind and relax, explore historical sites, or a little bit of both, any of these destinations will engage the imagination and delight the senses. So what are you waiting for? Its time for your next vacation!
